It belongs to a broader category of wares known as "Canton stonewares," which encompasses various ceramics produced along the coastal region. The topography of the hilly, wooded area facilitated the construction of dragon kilns due to its slopes, providing both the necessary terrain and fuel for firing. Additionally, its proximity to major ports facilitated trade and distribution. Shiwan dolls, also referred to as Shiwan art ceramics, are renowned handicrafts originating from the Lingnan region, boasting a rich history. The Shiwan Fine Arts Ceramics Factory is esteemed as the foremost authority in Shiwan ceramics, established back in 1956.
