Thomas and Charles Clark established T. & C. Clark & Company Limited in 1795. The company was headquartered at Shakespeare Foundry in Wolverhampton, England. The business expanded to become one of Wolverhampton's biggest iron foundries, and it was a pioneer in the production of sanitary ware and enameled cast iron cookware. Thousands of things, both industrial and residential, were offered by the company. T. & C. Clark obtained a patent in 1839 that guaranteed their products would not include lead or arsenic, and as a result, they were the first to employ enamelled cast ironware. With 600–700 employees, the company rose to become Wolverhampton's largest employer.
