The Royal Overhouse Manufactory, one of the oldest ceramic factories in Burslem, the Mother Town of the Potteries in Stoke-on-Trent, is where Royal Stafford is based. The Royal Stafford brand was founded in 1845 and is known for producing high-quality, attractive dinnerware all throughout the world. Royal Stafford is now a market leader in the production of English cream-colored pottery, a classic Staffordshire item. Royal Stafford pottery is made with meticulous attention to detail and a great deal of love and care. The Royal Overhouse Manufactory property was in use in 1787, according to records, and was run by Thomas Wedgwood. In 1819, Edward Challinor took over the factory. The old operations were demolished in 1869, and Edward Challinor built a new and larger plant with all of the newest innovations in machinery and appliances, including steam-powered jiggers. 'Edward Challinor began business here in A.D. 1819, and restored the premises in A.D. 1869,' according to decorative scroll masonry over the door. This masonry can still be seen today on the industrial gates. Royal Stafford is sold in stores all across the world, from the United Kingdom to North America and South Korea.
